The European Aeronautic Defence and Space Co (EAD.PA: Quote, Profile, Research) plans to spend up to $1.5 billion for a U.S. company within the next year to boost its position in sensors, data fusion and communications, the head of EADS' North American unit said Monday.
"Our cash flow is good and our cash resources for making acquisitions is good," Ralph Crosby, chairman and chief executive of EADS North America, told the Reuters Aerospace and Defense Summit in Washington.
Crosby said EADS would make such an acquisition, involving "network-centric system of systems" capability, after the U.S. Air Force picks its choice to build a new fleet of refueling jets.
